2019 Annual Comprehensive Plan Amendments
LEGAL NOTICE

Complete  applications for proposed amendments to the Benton County Comprehensive Plan for 2019 will be accepted by the Benton County Planning Department until 5:00 p.m. on December 3, 2018.  Individuals may propose changes to land use designations, policies, or any other components of the Plan, except for Urban Growth Area (UGA) boundaries.  Applications for comprehensive plan amendments must include all information requested on the application form provided by the Benton County Planning Department.

In the 2019 amendment process, Benton County will be accepting proposals from cities for possible amendments to their Urban Growth Area boundaries. All proposed amendments regarding UGA’s must be made by the cities, the County will not accept proposals from private individuals.  Complete application proposals for the 2019 UGA amendment process will be accepted by the Benton County Planning Department until 5:00 p.m. on December 3, 2018.  Complete  applications for UGA amendments must include all information requested on the application form and spreadsheet provided by the Benton County Planning Department.





The Board of County Commissioners at a  public hearing Tuesday, August 21, 2018adopted Benton County’s Critical Areas Ordinance and Mineral Resource Lands Ordinance .

Adoption Notice for Resolutions 2018-581 and 2018-582 for Ordinances 609 and 610.

Ordinance 609, the 2017 Periodic Update of the County’s Critical Areas Ordinance to bring the regulations into compliance with the goals and policies of the recently adopted 2017 Benton County Comprehensive Plan Update, the Washington State Growth Management Act, and applicable state law.

Ordinance 610, the 2017 Periodic Update of the County’s Mineral Resource Lands to promote the conservation of mineral resource lands and bring the regulations into compliance with the goals and policies of the recently adopted 2017 Benton County Comprehensive Plan Update, the Washington State Growth Management Act, and applicable state law.

Due to a lack of agenda items, the Benton County Hearings Examiner meeting scheduled for
September 17th, 2018 has been canceled.     

The next regular Hearings Examiner meeting is scheduled for October 15, 2018 at 10am 
at the Benton County Planning Annex: 1002 Dudley Avenue in Prosser

NOTICE OF HEARINGS before the Board of County Commissioners in the matter of: The 2017 Periodic Review of the County’s Comprehensive Plan and development regulations pursuant to Washington State Growth Management Act (GMA) RCW 36.70A.130(4).

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that public comment will be taken on the draft work products and amendments to Benton County’s development regulations at a public hearing Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at 9 a.m., in the Commissioners Hearing Room, Third Floor, Courthouse, Prosser.  The Board of County Commissioners will conduct said hearing to consider and act upon the Planning Commission’s recommendation.

Ordinance Amendment OA 2017-002 - Zoning regulation amendments to Benton County Code Title 11 as part of the County’s 2017 Periodic Update.  The zoning regulations currently consist of twenty-one (21) ordinances and the proposal is to have one (1) ordinance consisting of twenty-eight (28) chapters, with the creation of new chapters such as the Red Mountain Agricultural District, Conditional Use/Variances, Amendments and Appeals, Non-Conforming Uses and Home Occupation permitting.

Ordinance Amendment OA 2017-003 - Subdivision regulation amendments to Benton County Code Title 9.   The subdivision regulations are currently divided into four (4) ordinances. To streamline the regulations, Staff is proposing one (1) ordinance with consistent provisions and definitions and including new chapters such as an Introduction (including Definitions), Preliminary Plat, Final Plat, Design and Improvement, Lot Consolidation, and Tax Parcel Separation.
