Frequently Asked Questions

What is a voting center?

Voting centers are centrally located in Benton County. Each voting center's purpose is to help voters with replacement ballots and provide voters with disabilities the opportunity to vote in person on an accessible voting unit.  These locations are open to all voters.  Ballot drop boxes will also be located at voting centers for voters to securely return their ballot, without the cost of postage.

How do I vote at a voting center?

To vote at a voting center, you will begin by providing proper identification and signing the voter oath.  At this point, Elections staff will credit you with voting and you will be issued a voter access number for use on the accessible voting unit.  You cannot vote both your mail ballot and an electronic ballot at an accessible voting center.

What identification can be used?

All voters are required by law to show identification in order to vote in person.  Acceptable forms of identification include: driver’s license, state-issued identification card, student identification card, tribal identification card, voter registration card, current utility bill, recent bank statement, paycheck, government check, other government document, or any other form of valid photo identification with the voter’s name on it.

What is an Accessible Voting Unit?

Benton County’s Accessible Voting Units feature easy-to-use design and are accessible to all voters, including people with disabilities, increasing voter confidence that their vote is counted. A set of distinctly shaped control buttons and the SELECT Wheel are easy for voters to understand and use, and never need calibration. Voters are presented with a summary of their votes before they can activate the "Cast Ballot" button, allowing for second chance vote changes as required by the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002. A Verifiable Ballot Option (VBO) offers extra assurance.
